Eurovision Song Contest 1993

The 38th Eurovision Song Contest was staged in Millstreet, County Cork, Ireland on 15th May 1993. The venue, the Euro-Dome became the focus for the crème de la crème of Europe's talent throughout Eurovision week.

William Mangion, Malta's popular representative, placed 8th (many felt he deserved better) with his popular song, written by his own lyrics and music, »THIS TIME«. The Irish really took to the Maltese delegation, describing them as the most outgoing and fun of the Eurovision, bestowing upon them the honorary title of "The Irish of the Mediterranean", which must count as being the ultimate compliment of all - after all.

Although winning is nice, it's the taking part that counts. William may not have brought back the Eurovision Crown but he made a lot of friends and endeared the Maltese nation to the Irish with his enthusiasm and hard work.
